The Spirit

The spirit of man [that factor in human personality which proceeds immediately from God] is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts. (Proverbs 20:27 amplified)

Isn’t that a breath-taking scripture, to know that what ever we do and who ever we are as humans we have a part of us that proceeds immediately from God.  Therefore it is our duty as Christians to ensure that this amazing part of us is activated and maintained. This part that can commune directly with God because it has come directly from Him, this part of us that knows without understanding the enormity of God that beholds the wonderful truths in His Word.

Those of us who are believers have activated our spirits by accepting Jesus Christ into our lives, but we have to maintain it, through regular communion with God. Sometimes it is difficult to pray but Paul says in Romans 8:26 “… the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”  If we go beyond our flesh and get on our knees we can have a wonderful time of communion with the Lord and afterwards our spirit feels refreshed.

Our spirit is our lamp; it is by this that the Lord finds and sees who we are.  All our hopes, aspirations and dreams, all our hurt, pain and shame all our sin, depravity and wretchedness.  Through our spirits we are changed, the psalmist David said, “O LORD, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me.”(Psalm 139:1 amp)  Although, we know we will never be perfected until glory; however we should strive to “cast down arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” So that when God searches us what he finds in our spirits will be aligned with his will.
