2 Kings 18-19; Proverbs 24:17-34; Matthew 20:17-34

2 Kings 18

2 Kings 18:1-6 Dear Lord today I declare that I trust in you, O Lord God of Israel. There is no God like You. I want to stay faithful to You in everything and carefully obey Your commands like king Hezekiah. I ask You to be with me Lord, and give me success in my work for Your kingdom.

2 Kings 18:7-8 Hezekiah reminds us Lord, that true success is found only in following You. May I not be lured and sucked in by my culture’s misunderstanding of success. May I always instead be concerned only with success in Your eyes and in Your ways.

2 Kings 18:19-25 The king of Assyria tries to intimidate king Hezekiah with half-truths and lies. Our enemy also uses lies and half-truths to intimidate us. Let join together today and pray for discernment and a solid foundation in God’s Word to withstand His attacks.

2 Kings 18:28-30 Lord, people taunt us, too, and try to tell us we can’t trust in You and Your strength to rescue us. But I know You are who You say You are. You are my God, my refuge, my help when I’m in trouble. I will trust in no one else.

2 Kings 18:32-35 How foolish to even try to compare God’s power with the false god’s of others. But yet how easy to be taken in and think, maybe he’s right! Ask God to give you strength to withstand the doubts and derision of others. I declare today that He will keep me in perfect peace because my mind is stayed upon Him in Jesus name.

2 Kings 19

2 Kings 19:1-4 Do you respond to a crises as Hezekiah does? He goes to the Temple to pray, and he asks Isaiah to pray. Are you facing some crisis today? Bring it to the Lord and then also ask others to pray for you.

2 Kings 19:15-19 Our God and King, You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth.
I ask You to defend our nation from its mortal enemies. Turn our faces towards You and rescue us!

2 Kings 19:25-28 Lord because of the truth of Your word and the evidence of Your power. I can declare today You are sovereign, Lord. You decide the fate of nations and plot their course from the beginning of time. You raise them up and cast them down according to your purposes. In the end all nations of the earth will bow before Your throne.

2 Kings 19:29-31 Blessed Lord, I see Isaiah’s word from You gives Hezekiah faith for the future. Dear reader the Lord wants to give you faith for the future. Ask Him to speak to Your heart through the words of Isaiah.

2 Kings 19:34 God’s work in our lives gives Him glory. Thank Him for His faithfulness to all His promises!

Proverbs 24:17-34

Proverbs 24:27 NLT “Develop your business first before building your house.” Lord, help me to set wise priorities and do first things first in life, in business, and in my relationships with You and others.

Proverbs 24:30-34
30 I walked by the field of a lazy person, the vineyard of one with no common sense.
31 I saw that it was overgrown with nettles. It was covered with weeds,
and its walls were broken down.
32 Then, as I looked and thought about it, I learned this lesson:
33 A little extra sleep, a little more slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
34 then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit;
scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

Matthew 20:17-34

Matthew 20:24-28 Spend some time to reflect on what Jesus values in a leader. Ask him for humility to serve the people you lead and the strength and courage to sacrifice yourself for the lives that follow your life.

Matthew 20:29-34 Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me as You had on the blind men. Heal me from my spiritual blindness so that I can see You in all Your truth and grace.
