Isaiah 46-47; Proverbs 27:14-27; Matthew 29-51

Isaiah 46

Isaiah 46:2 Lord, thank you for Your word today. It gives me a clear picture of what happens to us when we create idols in our lives. As we see in this verse both the idols and the ones carrying them are bowed down. The gods cannot protect the people, and the people cannot protect the gods. They go off into captivity together. I declare today that the power of the Holy Spirit will in power me to dismantle and destroy every idolatrous thing that has found it’s way into this glorious temple my body, which is for You and You only.

Isaiah 46:3-4 Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your constant care since before I was born. Thank You for promising to be my God as long as I live, even until I’m very old. Carry me along and save me, Lord.

Isaiah 47

Isaiah 47:4 Lord Almighty, my Redeemer, thank You for your sweet presence that fills this room this morning as You speak to me through Your Word. You have conquered my heart. I submit to You and bow before You as Your willing subject.

Isaiah 47:8 That sounds like my world, Lord! I live in a pleasure-crazy culture, with people who are at ease and feel secure, bragging as if they are the greatest in the world! Please protect me from being squeezed into the mould.

Isaiah 47:13 Pray for those who look to astrologers and psychics for guidance. Ask God to thwart that advice so they will look instead to Him for direction.

Proverbs 27:14-27

Proverbs 27:21 “Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but a person is tested by being praised.” Lord help me not to fail this test! Remind me constantly that all the good that comes out of my life, comes from You and all praise belongs to You.

Matthew 24:29-51

Matthew 24:30 Lord Jesus, the prospect of the last days and all the suffering they will bring fills me with dread, but the prospect of Your coming with power and great glory, oh how I want to see that! Come, Lord Jesus.

Matthew 24:44 Lord, I know that I am to be ready for Your return every day of my life. Teach me to hold my life and all its trappings loosely in my hands so as to be ready when You appear on the last day.

Matthew 24:45-46 Lord I want to be a loyal sensible servant for You, faithful in the work You have set for me. Teach me, and discipline me, I pray, so that I will be found holy in Your eyes when You return.
