Jeremiah 40-42; Ecclesiastes 1;John 4:27-54

Jeremiah 40

Jeremiah 40:6 Pray for God’s servants who are ministering in difficult, depressing circumstances.

Jeremiah 40:10 God, teach me to make the most of bad situations. When life is difficult or even unbearable, when I don’t know where I’ll find the strength to go on, show me the way.

Jeremiah 41

Jeremiah 41:1-3 Lord, make me wise about those people I can trust and those I can’t trust.

Jeremiah 41:18 Lord, I don’t want the fear of anyone except You to motivate me. Let me be instead motivated by righteousness, not by fear of what others may do to me.

Jeremiah 42

Jeremiah 42:6 Father, help me to obey You completely, whether I know what You’re doing or not, whether I understand or not, whether I like it or not.

Jeremiah 42:11 Lord, please be with me today. Deliver me from evil and rescue me from the Devil’s power (Matthew 6:13; 2 Thessalonians 3:3).

Jeremiah 42:15-16 Lord Almighty, God of Israel, help me not to insist on having my own way. I know that only in following Your way can I find life fulfilment and joy.

Ecclesiastes 1

Ecclesiastes 1:2 Lord, everything in life is meaningless apart from You; help me find your purpose for the life You’ve given me.

Ecclesiastes 1:8 Father, teach me how to get along joyfully in a world that is plagued by so much futility. True fulfilment is found only in You, dear God.

John 4:27-54

John 4:39-41 Sometimes, Father, we think of evangelism as a fearsome task, but You have promised joy for the harvesters. Give me a zealous heart to tell others the Good News!

John 4:42 Pray that more people in our society will welcome the presence of Jesus with the eagerness of the Samaritans and receive Him with joy. May many come out of there place of sin as it were to seek You as the source of their salvation.

John 4:43-54 Jesus, Great Healer, I praise You for Your healing touch among the people of God today. As we see Your power and grace demonstrated it causes our faith to be renewed and strengthened.

2 Kings 25;2 Chronicles 36; Psalm 137; John 4:1-26

2 Kings 25

2 Kings 27:7 Lord, how horrible, Zedekiah watches his children being killed. Yet sometimes we are so blinded to how easily the devil could destroy our children if we fail to pray for them and teach them Your ways. Keep my priorities straight. The lives of my children depend on it!

2 Kings 25:21 Your judgment is inescapable, God. I thank You that You sent Jesus to take sins punishment for me. Because of His death on the cross in my place, I need never fear Your judgment, Hallelujah!

2 Kings 25:24-26 The promises of the kingdoms of this world carry no weight. The peace and wealth of the enemy is short lived. Ask the Lord to protect your heart from this deception.

2 Chronicles 36

2 Chronicles 36:14-16 You have always been kind to me, Lord, warning me of the consequences of my sin. Forgive me for when I have not listened. Correct me before it is too late. May I never scorn Your Word and those You have sent to me in Your name.

2 Chronicles 36:17-20 No one on earth from east to west, or even from the wilderness, can raise another person up. It is God alone who judges; He decides who will fall.
But as for me, I will always proclaim what God has done. I will sing praise to the God of Israel (Psalm 75:6-7, 9)

2 Chronicles 36:22-23 You never forgot Your people, Lord! How amazing are these few words! You punished Your people, but You didn’t forget them or Your plan to restore them. What confidence in You I find reading these words.

Psalm 137

Psalm 137:5-6 As you live like a foreigner here on earth (1 Peter 2:11), how often do you remember Jerusalem, where the King of kings established His kingdom and will return to reign?

John 4:1-26

John 4:7-9 Jesus, how easily You broke down or disregarded the walls of race and nationality and gender as You sought out those who needed to know You. Teach me to do likewise.

John 4:13-14 Lord Jesus, I know You are the source of sweet, refreshing water that springs within us. So why do we so often neglect to drink? Remind me to hold out my cup so that you can fill it up.

John 4:21-24 Thank God for His Presence with you wherever you are and that you can worship Him anywhere and everywhere, in spirit and in truth.

Jeremiah 39:2 Everything happened just as You told Jeremiah it would, God. Help me to trust you to fulfil your perfect will in the future just as You have done so precisely in the past.

Jeremiah 39:7 Such horrific events, Lord, and because Zedekiah wouldn’t listen to You. Nothing good ever comes from ignoring Your clear word. Please help me to follow You more closely and more obediently every day.

Jeremiah 39:15-18 Father, I trust You as did this Ethiopian preserve my life and keep me safe. When danger or difficulty or fear is my companion hold me up and protect me, Lord.

Jeremiah 52

Jeremiah 52:2 What a disturbing epitaph for Zedekiah, O Lord. Instead of evil, may my life be characterised by words and thoughts and actions that are pleasing to You (Psalm 19:14).

Jeremiah 52:27 The path to exile was taken one small step at a time, Lord. I read of all the opportunities You gave Your people to turn back to you. Help me to choose Your ways day after day, Lord, remembering that turning away in small ways can snowball into disaster.

Jeremiah 52:28-29 Pray for families who have been separated from loved ones due to war and political upheaval.

John 3

John 3:29-30 Ask God for the privilege of becoming one who prepares the way, like John the Baptist, for others to know Him. Then move aside so God can plant he seeds of faith.

Jeremiah 30-31; John 1:1-28

Jeremiah 30

Jeremiah 30:2-3 Lord, thank You for inspiring and preserving the truth of Your Word throughout the ages. I thank You for men like Jeremiah, who wrote even when it put his life in danger.
Thank you Lord for allowing us to see in our generation Your promise being fulfilled, of You restoring the fortunes of Your people Israel and bringing them back home to the land that You gave to their ancestors. You said “they will possess it and live there again”. May we Your church be restored and cleansed from our besetting sins and be brought back to the place You prepared for us to live,in You.

Jeremiah 30:8 Lord, God the Almighty One. Thank You today that we serve a God that has all power. As you said to Israel “I will break the yoke from off their necks and snap their chains”. I pray for every born again believer who was purchased with the precious blood of the Lamb Christ Jesus, that You will come and break from our necks the yokes of bondage and snap the chains that drag us into sin in word, thought and deed, so we no longer will bring shame to Your name and hurt to ourselves.

Jeremiah 30:10 Lord, even in the middle of calamity and trouble, You are my light and my salvation (Psalm 27:1). I refuse to be afraid or dismayed, O God, help me to trust You completely.

Jeremiah 30:17 Lord, even though my wounds were incurable and I was left to die because of the sins I committed Father, Abba, thank You from the depths of my heart, You love me so much that even in my contamination You said “I will give you back your health and heal your wounds, says The Lord”.

Jeremiah 30:19 Lord, multiply Your people; make Your church effective in bringing more and more people into Your kingdom.

Jeremiah 31

Jeremiah 31:1 O, God, how we long to see You be the God of all the families in our nation. Please let Your healing power touch our communities.

Jeremiah 31:3 Lord, thank You for loving us with an everlasting love. Thank You for drawing me to Yourself. Where would I be without You, Lord? My life would be in ruins!

Jeremiah 31:9 God, please bless my family and friends today let them know Your presence in such a tangible way, until tears of joy stream down their faces.

Jeremiah 31:12 Thank The Lord for the many gifts He has given you. Be as specific as possible.

Jeremiah 31:16 Pray for the prodigal children in your family and church. Ask God to do whatever is necessary to bring them back into fellowship with Him.

Jeremiah 31:21 Meditate on the road signs and guideposts in your past, and ask God to use them to teach you today.

Jeremiah 31:31-32 Father, I praise You because You are a God of new things, especially the new covenant that Jesus established in His blood.

Jeremiah 31:33 Lord, this marvellous thing You done for Israel, please do it for me. Write Your laws in my mind and take Your loving hand and write them on my heart. Guide my conduct from the inside out.

John 1:14 Thank The Lord Jesus that He was willing to become human and live among us and demonstrate the love and faithfulness of God to us.

John 1:18 Dear Jesus Your Word says that You are close to the Father’s heart. I want to be there with You, gather me close. I pray.
