Isaiah 28-29; Proverbs 21:15-31; Matthew 17:14-27

Isaiah 28

Isaiah 28:1 Father, You have given us many natural abilities and resources. Bless there use and keep us from sinful pride.

Isaiah 28.7 Dear Lord please protect me from erring in vision and stumbling and making stupid mistakes today as I carry out my responsibilities.

Isaiah 28:13 Lord, help me to hear You the first time You speak to me. I don’t ever want to be so hard of heart that You have to repeatedly call me to obedience.

Isaiah 28:16 Jesus Christ, You are the precious corner stone of my salvation and my life. Be also the builder of my life. Let my life be for Your honour and glory.

Isaiah 28:29 Lord Almighty,You are a wonderful teacher. Help me take the time to sit at Your feet day by day, listening to all You have to teach me.

Isaiah 29

Isaiah 29:5-7. Come against my enemy. Lord, and drive out the work of Satan from my life.

Isaiah 29:9-12 God, I don’t ever want to act incredulous or in believing when You say something or do something. Help me always to believe You, faithfully and unswervingly. And whenever I begin to doubt You, Lord, come to my rescue.

Isaiah 29:13 Oh, lord, help me honour You not only with my lips, but also with my heart.

Isaiah 29:18-19 Lord, please speed the day when the deaf will hear, the blind will see, the humble will be filled with fresh joy fro You, and those who are poor will rejoice in You. What a wonderful prospect!

Isaiah 29:23 I stand in awe of You, heavenly Father; I recognise Your holiness, and I praise You for Your righteousness and glory and for the blessings you’ve bestowed on my life.

Proverbs 21:15-31

Proverbs 21:21 Other, less worthy things so easily claim my attention, Lord. Show me how to pursue godliness and unfailing love in all I do today.

Proverbs 21:31 No matter how prepared I may be for this day, Lord, the victory belongs to You. Help me to wait, and watch You win the day (Exodus 14:13)

Matthew 17:14-27

Matthew 17:20 Lord Jesus, at times it seems like I have so little faith, but You have promised that only a little bit of faith can move mountains. Help me to remember and grasp hold of this wonderful assurance.

Join 24 hours of prayer for Pastor Nadarkhani

In four days, on 8 September, Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani will appear in court again, this time to face new charges that may be related to crimes against national security.

Pastor Nadarkhani has spent over 1,000 days in prison since he was sentenced to death for apostasy in 2010.  He has been in court several times and been given the opportunity to recant his faith to see the death sentence lifted.  Each time, he refused.  CSW has been campaigning for him since his arrest, and the international pressure on his case has so far helped to delay his execution.

Now, the Iranian authorities are putting him on trial again.  The exact charges have not been released but there are fears he may be charged with national security crimes or even blasphemy. According to our sources, judges reportedly received instructions to try Pastor Nadarkhani on new, trumped up charges in order to make his sentence appear more acceptable.

If accurate, the  latest information from the Mohabat News Agency makes his situation even more worrying.  According to reports issued last Friday, Iran’s new penal code states that anyone committing a national or international security crime can be charged with “spreading corruption on earth” and could receive the death sentence.   That’s why we want to cover Pastor Nadarkhani in prayer on the day of the trial. We’ve got around 100 prayer slots available, so just pick your preferred slot, and don’t worry if someone’s already signed up for your chosen time.   The more people praying the better!

Isaiah 26-27; Proverbs 21:1-14; Matthew 17:1-13

Isaiah 26

Isaiah 26:3 So often we look for peace in all the wrong places. Lord we ask that You will give us perfect peace today because we trust in You and because our thoughts are fixed on You.

Isaiah 26:7 Smooth out the road ahead of me, Lord. Keeping Your commands is not difficult for those who love You (1 John 5:3). Tell the Lord you want to grow in your love for Him.

Isaiah 26:15 Oh, Lord, I pray with Jabez of old that You would bless me and extend my borders! “please be with me in all I do, and keep from all trouble and pain.” (1 Chronicles 4:10).

Isaiah 26:19 Thank You, Father, for the assurance that those who belong to You will live forever! What a glorious thought that is when life throws difficulties and pain my way. I belong to You, and I will rise up someday and sing for joy!

Isaiah 27

Isaiah 27:6 Heavenly Father, please cause my roots to grow “down deep into the soil of Your marvellous love” (Ephesians 3:17)

Isaiah 27:11 Lord, let me never be so foolish and stupid as to turn away from You. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on you, on whom my faith depends from start to finish (Hebrews 12:2)

Proverbs 21:1-14

Proverbs 21:1 Lord, please make my heart like a stream of water. Direct it, refresh it, and turn it wherever You please.

Proverbs 21:4 Tell the Lord how you feel about haughty eyes, a proud heart, and evil actions. Ask Him to deliver you from these sins.

Matthew 17:1-13

Matthew 17:1-7 Majesty I worship Your Majesty! Before You, Father and before Your beloved Son, I bow in awe of Your power and majesty. I love You, Lord, and I lift my voice to worship and praise You.

Isaiah 24-25; Proverbs 20:16-30; Matthew 16:13-28

Isaiah 24

Isaiah 24:5-6. Deliver me, Lord God, from the temptation to twist Your instructions and violate Your laws. Give me instead a heart that is willing to obey and a mind that takes Your instructions and follows them.

Isaiah 24:14-16. I praise Your majesty, Lord. I join Your people in the east and the west, all over the globe in praising You. Hallelujah!

Isaiah 24:23 The sun is far too bright to look at without some kind of filter. Yet the brightness will be considered dull compared to God’s glory at the establishment of His kingdom in full. Pray that God’s kingdom will come in your lifetime.

Isaiah 25

Isaiah 25:1. Honour and praise God for the things that have happened in Your life, family, church, and community. Things God planned long ago that now, and about to come to past.

Isaiah 25:7-8 NLT “In that day He will remove the cloud of gloom, the shadow of death that hangs over the earth. 8 He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign Lord will wipe away all tears. He will remove forever all insults and mockery against His land and people. The Lord has spoken.” Christ has conquered death through His own suffering and death in your place. Offer Him praise and thanks for the sacrifice He has made so that you could have life eternally.

Proverbs 20:16-30

Proverbs 20:19. NLT “A gossip tells secrets, so don’t hang around with someone who talks too much.”. Lord, guard my tongue; help me to steer clear of the sin of gossip. I don’t want to hear it or be the one to spread it. Make me sensitive to the times when it’s best to keep my mouth shut.

Proverbs 20:22. NLT. “Don’t say, I will get even for this wrong. Wait for the Lord to handle the matter.” Dear Lord, You have promised to repay those who deserve it (Deuteronomy 32:35). Help me to trust You and wait for You to handle such matters.

Matthew 16:13-28

Matthew 16:16 Dear Jesus, like Peter I openly acknowledge and confess that You are the Messiah, the Christ, the Son of he living God. I am in awe today that You are my Saviour, and I love You.

Matthew 16:23. Pray that you learn, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to see things from God’s heavenly perspective rather than from your own very human point of view.

Matthew 16:24-28. On this brand new day that the Lord has made, say a prayer of dedication or rededication offering control and ownership of your own life to Jesus Christ, to use as He sees fit.

Isaiah 22-23; Proverbs 20:1-15; Matthew 16:1-12

Isaiah 22

Isaiah 22:1-4 Though you may agree that God’s judgment is always right, pray that your heart will always remain soft so that when God’s people are disciplined, you will respond with intercession rather than indifference.

Isaiah 22:11 Lord, keep me from making frantic plans that don’t involve You. Instead, give me insight into Your plans, and help me to follow your design.

Isaiah 22:16 Father, please let me build monuments in Your honour with my life, not vain monuments to my own life for my own glory.

Isaiah 22:23-24 Lord, please let my life and actions bring honour to You and be an example to my family and to others that look at my life.

Isaiah 23

Isaiah 23:1-7 Father, help me never to put undue confidence in empires that people establish; in a moment they are toppled and new ones emerge. Thank You that Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom of righteousness and life.

Isaiah 23:8-9 Lord, help me to be unimpressed with so-called human greatness. Let me instead be consistently impressed by godly character and humility.

Isaiah 23:14-18 Precious Lord, when I read these verses I see once again that Your patience is unfathomable. I praise You because You demonstrate Your mercy and grace over and over again. And when sinful people persist in their sin despite Your mercy, You are able even to turn the results of their rebellion into instruments for Your glory.

Proverbs 20

Proverbs 20:1 Pray for friends or loved ones who struggle with addictions. Ask God to keep them from being led astray by drink or other intoxicants.

Proverbs 20:9 Lord in reading this verse I cannot say I am without sin! But I trust in Your unfailing love and Your willingness to forgive my sin and make me pure. Thank You, Lord for who you are and who You’re making me to be.

Matthew 16

Matthew 16:1-4 Jesus may my eyes and ears be so open to see and hear You that I don’t need miracles or special revelations to know Your holy presence in my heart.

Matthew 16:5-12 Pray that the Word of God will so permeate your heart and mind that you will recognize and discern hypocritical and erroneous teaching when you hear it.
