Isaiah 40-41; Proverbs 26:17-28; Matthew 22:23-46

Isaiah 40

Isaiah 40:5 Thank You Lord, Your glory has been revealed. We have seen it in the person of Jesus Christ. We pray that Your kingdom will be revealed to more and more of the earth’s population.

Isaiah 40:8 We have seen how the things of this life wither, the grass, the flowers, even our own bodies. But one thing is sure and never fades or grows old, Your Word. I thank You, loving God, that it stands forever.

Isaiah 40:11 Pray for the youngest lambs in the flock of God and those who are responsible for their care. Ask God to bless the maturing and upbringing of the next generations of His people.

Isaiah 40:27-31 Lord, we thank You for seeing our troubles and for giving us strength when we are weary. Most of all, Lord, I thank You for giving us wings to fly spiritually!

Isaiah 41

Isaiah 41:4 Lord You are the first and the last, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. You are the one who is, who always was, and who is to come, the Almighty One (Revelation 1:8). You are my God.

Isaiah 41:10 Father, thank You that we can pray your Word and see it come to past. I will not be afraid because I know You are with me. I will not be troubled because I know You are my God. Strengthen me, Lord! Help me! Hold me up with Your victorious right hand.

Isaiah 41:21 Lord please point me to the idols in my life. Protect me from the tendency to put my trust in anyone or anything but You.

Proverbs 26:17-28

Proverbs 26:17 Lord, please grant us the ability to mind our own business. Help us to understand what is our business and what isn’t. Keep us Lord we pray from interfering in other peoples business.

Proverbs 26:24 Let us search our heart for any trace of hatred, and ask God to cleanse us thoroughly from all semblance of hate, so He can be glorified in and through our lives.

Matthew 22:23-46

Matthew 22:37. Lord I ask you to give my heart the devotion, my soul the strength, and my mind the clarity to love You for all hat You are.

Matthew 22:39 Father help me to love those I meet today. Let me be as aware of their feelings as I am of my own, as watchful of their welfare as I am my own, and as concerned for their souls as I am my own. In Jesus name Amen.

Isaiah 38-39; Proverbs 26:1-16; Matthew 22:1-22

Isaiah 38

Isaiah 38:1 For the past few days the Scripture readings have been highlighting the life of Hezekiah. Are your affairs in order? Take time to examine yourself and ask God to reveal anything in your life that displeases Him.

Isaiah 38:3 Lord, when I am old I want to be able to say, as Hezekiah does, that I have been faithful to You and done what is pleasing in Your sight. I can’t live a life as I should on my own without You. Please help me, Lord!

Isaiah 38:15-17 Lord may I accept Your discipline with the same faith and joy with which I accept Your blessings. Both are from Your good a loving hand.

Isaiah 38:20. Lord this verse reminds me that You delight in creative expressions of praise and worship. May we sing or make music to You in our prayer time today.

Isaiah 39

Isaiah 39:8. Heavenly Father please teach me to think not only of my lifetime and my comfort and security but also of others and those who will come after me.

Proverbs 26:1-16

Proverbs 26:6. Lord God, please make me wise in choosing who I trust.

Matthew 22:1-22

Matthew 22:1-14. Father, thank You for inviting us to Your table in the kingdom to feast with You forever. I come clothed only in Your forgiveness and grace through Jesus Your Son.

Matthew 22:15-22 Pray for the wisdom to understand what you owe to earthly leaders and institutions. Make a pledge to God your highest allegiance and true worship that belongs to Him.

2 Kings 20; Proverbs 25:16-28; Matthew 21:23-46

2 Kings 20

2 Kings 20:4-6 What a wonderful answer to Hezekiah’s prayer. Thank You Lord, You hear and You respond whenever Your people call on You. Our tender hearted Creator I worship You. Lord help me to be devoted to You for as long as I live.

2 Kings 20:9-10 Lord I am reminded again that there are no limits to Your willingness to reveal Yourself to us, even against Your own natural laws. Thank You for Your full revelation in Jesus.

2 Kings 20:12-18. Lord help me to remain vigilant against the plots of the enemy, the Devil.
Thank You Lord for rescuing me from his clutches again and again. Help me to be ever more aware of his sinister ways.

Proverbs 25:1-28

Proverbs 25:6 NLT “Don’t demand an audience with the king or push for a place among the great.”
Proverbs 25:6 AMP. “Be not forward (self-assertive and boastfully ambitious) in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men.”

Lord how awful it appears when we have been blessed with a gift from you, and think so much of ourselves that we become pushy or over-ambitious and have no respect for those who have paid the price through experience to understand the value of the gift we have been given. Lord in this age of technology, knowledge can be gained so easily without experience and this just breeds conceit. Help us Lord not to be like the world, self promoting, but God honouring.

Proverbs 25:8 Lord, prevent me from rushing to judgment. Help me to handle touchy matters in a way that honours You.

Proverbs 25:16 Thank the Lord for this verse, and ask the Lord to help you develop healthier eating habits.

Proverbs 25:20 Lord daily I am made aware of how complex we are. Please make me sensitive to other people’s emotions and needs. Help me to meet those needs with Your love and understanding.

Proverbs 25:28 Father, help me to live in this evil world with self-control, right conduct, and wholehearted devotion to You. (Titus 2:12).

Matthew 21:1-46

Matthew 21:1-6 Praise Jesus for the humility He modelled by riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. Take time to adore the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, who will one day come in triumph on a white horse (Revelation 19:11-16).

Matthew 21:18-22. Father, You are the source of all good things. Increase my faith, I pray, so that I may in turn bear fruit for You.

Matthew 21:28-32 Pray that you will perceive obedience for what it is, the evidence of a heart that is truly and fully devoted to God.

Matthew 21:42 Jesus, You are the cornerstone of my life. Without You, I would have nothing and be nothing. Be my rock and my refuge today.

2 Kings 18-19; Proverbs 24:17-34; Matthew 20:17-34

2 Kings 18

2 Kings 18:1-6 Dear Lord today I declare that I trust in you, O Lord God of Israel. There is no God like You. I want to stay faithful to You in everything and carefully obey Your commands like king Hezekiah. I ask You to be with me Lord, and give me success in my work for Your kingdom.

2 Kings 18:7-8 Hezekiah reminds us Lord, that true success is found only in following You. May I not be lured and sucked in by my culture’s misunderstanding of success. May I always instead be concerned only with success in Your eyes and in Your ways.

2 Kings 18:19-25 The king of Assyria tries to intimidate king Hezekiah with half-truths and lies. Our enemy also uses lies and half-truths to intimidate us. Let join together today and pray for discernment and a solid foundation in God’s Word to withstand His attacks.

2 Kings 18:28-30 Lord, people taunt us, too, and try to tell us we can’t trust in You and Your strength to rescue us. But I know You are who You say You are. You are my God, my refuge, my help when I’m in trouble. I will trust in no one else.

2 Kings 18:32-35 How foolish to even try to compare God’s power with the false god’s of others. But yet how easy to be taken in and think, maybe he’s right! Ask God to give you strength to withstand the doubts and derision of others. I declare today that He will keep me in perfect peace because my mind is stayed upon Him in Jesus name.

2 Kings 19

2 Kings 19:1-4 Do you respond to a crises as Hezekiah does? He goes to the Temple to pray, and he asks Isaiah to pray. Are you facing some crisis today? Bring it to the Lord and then also ask others to pray for you.

2 Kings 19:15-19 Our God and King, You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth.
I ask You to defend our nation from its mortal enemies. Turn our faces towards You and rescue us!

2 Kings 19:25-28 Lord because of the truth of Your word and the evidence of Your power. I can declare today You are sovereign, Lord. You decide the fate of nations and plot their course from the beginning of time. You raise them up and cast them down according to your purposes. In the end all nations of the earth will bow before Your throne.

2 Kings 19:29-31 Blessed Lord, I see Isaiah’s word from You gives Hezekiah faith for the future. Dear reader the Lord wants to give you faith for the future. Ask Him to speak to Your heart through the words of Isaiah.

2 Kings 19:34 God’s work in our lives gives Him glory. Thank Him for His faithfulness to all His promises!

Proverbs 24:17-34

Proverbs 24:27 NLT “Develop your business first before building your house.” Lord, help me to set wise priorities and do first things first in life, in business, and in my relationships with You and others.

Proverbs 24:30-34
30 I walked by the field of a lazy person, the vineyard of one with no common sense.
31 I saw that it was overgrown with nettles. It was covered with weeds,
and its walls were broken down.
32 Then, as I looked and thought about it, I learned this lesson:
33 A little extra sleep, a little more slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
34 then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit;
scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

Matthew 20:17-34

Matthew 20:24-28 Spend some time to reflect on what Jesus values in a leader. Ask him for humility to serve the people you lead and the strength and courage to sacrifice yourself for the lives that follow your life.

Matthew 20:29-34 Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me as You had on the blind men. Heal me from my spiritual blindness so that I can see You in all Your truth and grace.

2 Chronicles 31-32; Proverbs 24:1-16; Matthew 20:1-16

2 Chronicles 31

2 Chronicles 31:3-5 The king contributes to the sacrifice personally before he requires it of the people. Pray with your children or someone today that you can give them a model to follow.

2 Chronicles 31:10 “And Azariah the high priest, from the family of Zadok, replied, since the people began bringing their gifts to the Lord’s temple, we have had enough to eat and plenty to spare, for the Lord has blessed His people.”
God doesn’t need our gifts. You need to give them. Express to the Lord today how you feel about His generous reward for your faithfulness to Him.

2 Chronicles 31:14-20. We see in these verses everyone receives his fair portion, and God is pleased. Pray for faithful stewardship of God’s resources in the body of Christ today.

2 Chronicles 32

2 Chronicles 32:1-5 We can learn so much from the bible reading today that can help us maintain our victories. Hezekiah doesn’t wait until the enemy is at the gate before he mobilises his defences. Neither should you. Ask the Lord to show you where you are vulnerable to the enemy. Then ask Him to strengthen you.

2 Chronicles 32:7-8 Believe it, and declare it today over your life. “I don’t need to fear any enemy with You on my side, Lord. You are greater than any power in heaven or on earth! I praise You for Your power and protection.”

2 Chronicles 32:13 Even though the enemy may want to threaten us of how he brought destruction to others in the past. We are not just serving any god, anywhere. Only You, Lord, our one true God Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, can save us! You deserve the praise.

2 Chronicles 32:22-23 There is no counterfeit for God’s peace. Ask the Lord to demonstrate His presence in your life to others through the peace He gives you.

2 Chronicles 32:24-25. We see again today that pride lurks around every corner, ready to pounce and pull you away from the Lord. Examine your mind and heart for any hint of pride, then ask the Lord to protect you from pride’s power.

2 Chronicles 32:31 I remember the words of the psalmist in Psalm 143:6-8. “I reach out for You. I thirst for You as parched land thirst for rain. Come quickly, Lord, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die. Let me hear of Your unfailing love to me in the morning, for I am trusting You.”

Proverbs 24:1-16

Proverbs 24:3-4. Lord, please build my house by Your wisdom. Fill it’s rooms with godly values and strong character.

Proverbs 24:10 Lord, give me grace under pressure; help me to function well when even when things are against me.

Proverbs 24:12 “Don’t try to avoid responsibility by saying you didn’t know about it. For God knows all hearts, and He sees you. He keeps watch over your soul, and He knows you knew! And He will judge all people according to what they have done.”
Lord, You know all hearts, and You see me. You keep watch over my soul. Help me not to shirk responsibility but to be a person of integrity in all I do.

Matthew 20:1-16.

Matthew 20:1-16 Pray that the Lord will help you understand the generous love He has toward all His people. Pray for humility as you receive the gifts and grace He as given you out of His generous love.
